Damp, mould and leaks in Runnymede homes
Runnymede is the Thames-side borough at the north west corner of Surrey, named after the water meadow near Egham where Magna Carta was sealed in 1215. Its council is based in Addlestone and its other towns are Chertsey and Egham; Virginia Water, Englefield Green, Ottershaw, Thorpe, New Haw and Woodham make up most of the rest. The M25 runs through the middle of it, with Addlestone, Chertsey and Egham Hythe inside the motorway. The postcode districts are KT15 and KT16, TW20 and GU25, and the neighbours are Spelthorne, Elmbridge, Woking, Surrey Heath and, across the river, Windsor and Maidenhead.
Water shapes the borough. Chertsey, Egham, Egham Hythe and Thorpe sit on the low Thames floodplain, with the river itself, the Bourne streams and the gravel pits and lakes around Thorpe keeping the water table high; Virginia Water and Englefield Green sit higher on sandy ground that drains freely. On the floodplain we see damp at ground level, wet sub-floor voids and leaks under solid floors that only show once the ground around the house is saturated; on the higher ground the cause is almost always within the building.
The 2021 Census counted about 35,000 households, two-thirds owner-occupied and almost one in five privately rented. The stock is 32 % semi-detached, 26 % detached and 15 % terraced, with a quarter in flats. Every town and village below links to its own page.

- Chertsey local job: trace and access, leak repair, mould treatment, June 2026.
How we investigate
Non-invasive first. We open up only when we know exactly where the problem is.
Inside and out
The affected rooms, the rooms around them and the outside of the building are inspected before any instrument comes out.
Moisture readings
Calibrated moisture meter readings across walls, floors and ceilings.
Infrared survey
Used where it helps, thermal imaging picks out the wet patch and the pipe run feeding it beneath floors and behind plaster.
Acoustic & tracer gas
Acoustic listening and tracer gas, where suitable, to pinpoint concealed pipe leaks.
Isolate and test
Circuits are isolated and pressure-tested in turn so the leaking section is proven, not assumed.
The written record
Dated photographs, readings, thermal images and a plain-English conclusion, followed by a quote for the repair if one is needed.
What we do across Runnymede
Leaks, damp and mould share one discipline: locate the moisture, explain it, remove it. All services →

We locate concealed supply, heating and waste leaks under floors and behind finishes, and mark the exact spot.
Urgent leaks & burst pipes
Urgent cases are prioritised when water is coming through a ceiling or a pipe has burst.
Mould treatment & investigation
Mould is a symptom. We identify what is feeding it, treat the growth and specify the fix for the cause.

What if you cannot find a leak at my Runnymede property?
We say so in writing. A negative result (condensation, an old stain or a one-off spill) is reported as plainly as a leak, because that is often what an insurer or water company needs.
I rent in Runnymede. Can I ask you to investigate?
Yes, with the owner’s agreement. Tenants, landlords and managing agents all instruct us; the report goes to whoever books the visit and can be shared with the others involved.
