Mould Investigation and Fogging Treatment in London and Surrey
Fogging kills mould that is there today. It does nothing about the moisture that will grow it again next month. DML finds the cause first, then specifies the treatment that will hold.
Fogging disperses a fine antimicrobial mist that reaches surfaces, voids and soft furnishings that wiping cannot. Used correctly, it is an effective final step in dealing with mould contamination. Used as a first step, it is a recurring bill. DML’s approach is to carry out a mould investigation that establishes whether the growth is driven by condensation, a hidden leak, penetrating or rising damp, and only then specify removal, treatment and fogging where appropriate.
What the investigation establishes
- The moisture source feeding the mould, with readings and photographs
- The extent of visible and hidden growth, including behind furniture, in voids and under flooring
- Whether materials need removal (saturated plasterboard, insulation, carpet underlay) or can be treated in place
- Ventilation and heating factors, measured not assumed
- A sequence: fix the source, remove or treat affected materials, fog and sanitise, then verify
Fogging and treatment, specified honestly
The report sets out the treatment scope: surface cleaning with appropriate biocides, removal of unsalvageable materials, antimicrobial fogging of the affected rooms and voids where appropriate, and any protective coatings. Works are quoted and carried out separately by our team or a contractor of your choice. Where spore sampling before and after treatment is wanted, for example in a tenancy dispute or a health-related case, we can arrange it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you just fog the room?
We can specify fogging, but we will not pretend it is a cure on its own. Without addressing the moisture source the mould returns, and you will have paid twice.
Is fogging safe for children and pets?
Products are applied by the treating contractor with the room vacated for the stated period, after which it is safe to return. The treatment scope specifies the product and the re-entry time.
Does fogging remove the black staining?
Fogging sanitises. Staining on porous materials often needs physical cleaning or, where the material is saturated, replacement. The report says which.
Do you test for mould spores?
Where appropriate, yes. For most domestic cases the priority is the moisture source; sampling is useful where there is a dispute or a health concern that needs a record.
Who carries out the treatment?
DML specifies it. Our team or any contractor you choose carries it out under a separate quote.
